completed the top five.Last week, we shared our play-in group winners predictions, and we’ve also talked about which team has the best chance to win the whole thing. Dustin Young, Drew Young, Logan Spahr and Ken Duke Jr. Garrett Bard won the 20-lap feature for the 305 sprint cars. Jacob Allen won the Last Chance Showdown over Mike Wagner. Macri, Marks, Gravel and Bayston won the heat races. Gravel was fastest in the second flight at 15.674. James McFadden finished eighth, Outlaws point leader Brad Sweet faded from third to ninth and 17th starter Kasey Kahne rounded out the top 10. Danny Dietrich started 10th and finished sixth. Donny Schatz held off 12th starter Lance Dewease for fourth. Macri won by 2.6 seconds over Marks with Gravel third. The second half of the race belonged to Macri although Marks did close back in when they started lapping cars, but not close enough to try another pass. Eventually, Macri cleared Marks and began pulling away. Marks led Macri back down for the lap 13 restart and then the show was on as they traded sliders back and forth. Whittall slid across the race track and several other cars piled into the crash resulting in several flips. The nasty crash started when Justin Whittall and Devon Borden got together entering the corner. Macri had the lead, but a third turn crash behind them stopped the race before Macri got back to the line. Marks went back after him in turns three and four. The battle continued in turns one and two with Macri surging ahead. They traded the top spot again with Marks leading the lap. Marci blasted by Marks on the restart, but he returned the pass. Last year’s Nittany Showdown winner had been running fourth. Macri grabbed second from Gravel as they raced off turn two.Īs Macri was about to challenge Marks for the lead, the yellow flew when Spencer Bayston slowed with a blown engine. The traffic was thick at the back of the field. With 27 cars starting the feature, it only took six laps for Marks to start lapping cars. I feel like we’re great everywhere else, but I feel like we’re battling for second here.” It’s something we’ll have to work on for next year. I felt like I was in the racetrack enough, but not nearly as much as he was. They’re running around on springs and bumps and things like that we haven’t got ourselves into. “We’re not quite there with keeping up with Anthony at Port Royal here. “Our car was great all night long,” Marks said. Marks, who leads the country in money earned this year with 17 wins, settled for second. “I tried to drive harder and harder and make smart decisions when I got to traffic and not scrub too much speed.” “We were able to stick with him and throw a slider on him and put him in dirty air,” Macri said. “He was really quick in the dash and I knew it was going to take getting to lapped traffic or getting a good restart where I wasn’t spinning tires.”Īfter two different restarts, they threw slider after slider at each other. “After the dash, I was really concerned about how fast the track was and how good he was,” Macri said.
